To transfer alternating current (AC) electrical energy from primary to secondary side, Transformers are used which are electromagnetic devices. The transformation of energy are with equal power and with approximately equal frequency by mode of the transformer core magnetic field. Galvanic isolation is provided by the transformer in the electrical system. to provide the galvanic isolation in the electrical system is the main task, but it is operated in the same way as other isolation transformers.

They are often operated with turns ratio N1/N2=1 as well can also work as step-up transformer or step-down transformers. Thus this reflects primary and secondary voltage values are equal. And can be obtained with equal number of turns on the primary and secondary winding.

Science the the current circuit can be closed (short-circuited) between oscilloscope common point and grounding so when an oscilloscope measures signals in an electrical circuit which is not galvanically isolated from the network, it is very important to use isolation transformers.The main concern of the isolation transformer is to safeguard the electronic peripheral and the living body across electrical shock. The power supply is completely detached from the primary and the secondary circuit side from which electronic components are associated.

It substantially separates the power supply from primary side and a secondary side circuit connected to electronic peripheral and acquient metal parts which are in contact with the person. Mostly, the transformer secondary side is isolated from the grounding.

Application

    Isolation transformers are used in some special transformer like pulse transformers to which rectangular pulse signals are transmitted to provide electrical isolation. It is also suitable in computer network design.
